July 2011 Meeting Notes

Jerry Malcolm opened the meeting by asking the attendees how they captured audio at the events they do.
Michael Strycharsky demonstrated equipment he brought to capture audio. He discussed the importance of not only capturing live audio sources but capturing ambient audio to be used in post.
Brian Kennell talked about editing audio in post and real world audio problems

Phil discussed the AF1oo workshop on July 9-10 and training and Channel Austin http://www.channelaustin.org/training
Brian Kennell of SilverTree Videography presented his thoughts about Adobe CS 5.5. Click of this link for his presentation. Brian’s Adobe CS5.5 Review.
Several members and guests presented short videos shot with DSLR cameras and discussed how they did it:
- Woody Harrison of UPG Video Marketing presented a short promotional video for a commercial company.
- Ni Buan of Nil Buan Videography showed a wedding video highlight
- Jason Rude of re:life film showed a wedding video trailer
A possible future topic of camera stabilization systems was brought up and will be looked into.
There was a great turn out and the food, snacks, drink was enjoyed by all

Jerry Malcolm of 2nd Generation Video Productions lead a discussion of best practices for production workflow
The main topic for the next meeting will be about protecting your business; contracts, agreements and insurance “

Panel discussion about using social media was the main topic for the evening
Weston Norton of Reel Social Media discussed consumer trends and behavior; Strategy for employing social media; choosing what types to employ
Kathleen Connors spoke about strategies for web video and Facebook exposure
Mark Truss spoke about Google Adwords; formatting websites; what’s next in the advertising
Topic for next months meeting will be “Best practices for production workflow”
